🏡 Google Started in Her Garage
After nearly 9 years at the helm, Susan Wojcicki, the CEO of YouTube, has announced that she will be stepping down from her role to focus on her “family, health, and personal projects.”
Wojcicki has had a long and successful career at Google, where she joined as the 16th employee and played a crucial role in the company's early beginnings. Google, which was started in her childhood garage, has since become one of the world's most successful and influential companies.

Under Susan’s watch, the platform:
💰 Launched channel memberships, Super Chat, and Super Stickers increasing monetization potential for creators.
📺 Launched YouTube TV, Premium, and Shorts, expanding YouTube's presence in the entertainment industry and offering more options for viewers and advertisers.
🛡️ Improved the Content ID system, helping to protect intellectual property on the platform and to ensure that creators receive appropriate compensation.

📊 Improved analytics, giving creators and advertisers better insights into audience behavior and content performance.
👩💼 Increased female headcount from 24% → 30%, making diversity and inclusion a top priority at YouTube.

What’s Next? 🤔
Neal Mohan, who has been a part of the Google family since 2008 and joined YouTube in 2015 as Chief Product Officer, will be taking over as the new head of YouTube following Susan Wojcicki's departure.
During his impressive tenure at YouTube, Neal was crucial in launching some of the platform's most significant products, including YouTube TV, Music, Premium, and Shorts. He also led the Trust and Safety team, ensuring that YouTube maintained its position as a responsible global platform.
In the long term, Susan will take on an advisory role across Google and Alphabet, where she will leverage her vast experience to provide guidance and counsel across the portfolio of Alphabet companies.

The Next Twitch? 👾
Adin Ross, one of the biggest Twitch streamers in the world, recently announced that he would be spending more time streaming on the live-streaming platform “Kick.” Ross set a new record for Kick by live-streaming the Super Bowl to over 125,000 viewers.
Kick, started by fellow streamer “Trainwreckstv” has been praised for offering friendly deals to creators. Still, the platform's reputation has also been tainted due to its lax moderation guidelines and alleged association with the crypto gambling platform, “Stake.”
There are concerns that Kick could suffer the same fate as Mixer and Facebook Gaming, platforms that signed big-name talent but ultimately failed to execute and were shut down.
Despite the risks involved in joining a lesser-established platform like Kick, Ross's success highlights the potential of social media to launch a career and connect with an audience. If Kick can navigate its regulatory challenges and establish itself as a reliable platform with robust content moderation practices, it could become a big player.
