🎙 Introducing “Multi-Language” Audio
YouTube recently launched a new feature that allows creators to add audio tracks in different languages to their videos. The feature was built in-house by YouTube and was tested on a small group of creators in January 2023.
Here are the findings from the test phase:
🌍 3,500 dubbed videos were uploaded in over 40 languages.
💻 2 million hours of dubbed videos were watched daily on YouTube.
⏱ 15%+ of watch time came from viewers who watched in a different language than the video’s original language.
🔥 MrBeast has already dubbed his most popular videos in 11 languages.
A Huge Opportunity 📈

YouTube Blog
With the rapid growth of international markets like India, it's becoming increasingly important for creators to produce content in multiple languages.
In fact, of the top 20 fastest-growing YouTube channels in the last 30 days, 13 are Indian-based, and 16 are from non-English speaking countries (according to SocialBlade).
In a study by Pew Research Center during the first week of 2019, data was collected from the most popular channels on YouTube. The research focused on 243,254 videos, totaling 48,486 hours of content. Here are some of the findings:
🌍 More than four of every five videos uploaded to the site during the study period contained content in a language other than English.
🎥 Majority of the content contained segments in a language other than English.
👀 English-language videos comprised just 17% of the videos.
🔡 Of active channels, 5% posted videos in multiple languages, including English.
✨ Channels posting in English and another language were especially likely to be part of an “active” channel group.
Active Channels: Those that posted at least one video in the first week of 2019.

Big Picture: With the recent ban of TikTok in India, YouTube can continue to capitalize on international markets. The new multi-language audio feature and YouTube Shorts will act as another growth lever for the platform, allowing content creators who produce videos in multiple languages to reach a wider audience.
⭐️ How Creators Utilize This Opportunity
One creator who has already capitalized on this opportunity is Mr. Beast. In a recent interview, he discussed how he has transitioned from having separate channels for separate languages to having everything on one central channel, resulting in a supercharged growth of his videos.
He has even spun off his own business, Creator Global, which offers dubbing and localization services to help other creators expand their global reach.
By following in the footsteps of Mr. Beast and utilizing the Multi-Language Audio feature, creators can take advantage of the enormous potential for growth and success on the YouTube platform.
🌍 Grow your channel: Creators can reach new audiences, grow their channel, and increase engagement.
💰 Expand monetization opportunities: By reaching a larger, more diverse audience, creators can also expand their opportunities to monetize their content and increase their earnings.
📈 Improve engagement: Creators can improve viewer engagement and increase watch time from non-native viewers, leading to more successful and lucrative channels.
🤝 Build stronger connections: Creators can build stronger connections with their international audience and foster a sense of community.

TikTok…. Trivia? 🤔
TikTok just launched a new live trivia game, oddly reminiscent of the popular (and now shut-down) HQ Trivia. The game show consists of several rounds of trivia with multiple-choice options from various categories, such as sports, music, beauty, and lifestyle. Players must answer all questions correctly to win a share of the $500K prize pool. TikTok is also collaborating with creators who will host LIVE sessions after the TikTok Trivia events.
TikTok's foray into live streaming might be a move to capture a market with no clear winner. In China, live streaming has already taken off, thanks to a phenomenon called “Live Shopping” through platforms like Douyin (owned by TikTok’s parent company, ByteDance) and Taobao Live.
EMarketer reports that “live-streaming commerce” in China generated over $514 billion in sales in 2022, representing more than 17% of all e-commerce sales in the country.
This is one of many reasons why TikTok may have introduced this feature:
💰 New revenue stream: TikTok Trivia offers a new way for TikTok to generate revenue, as seen with its John Wick 4 movie sponsorship.
👱🏼♂️ Attract older audiences: With a minimum age requirement of 18 to participate, TikTok Trivia can attract an older audience to the platform.
🎙️ Improve live streaming: TikTok Trivia can improve the live streaming product, encouraging people to stream and interact on the platform.
📱 Reduce reliance on core features: By expanding its product offerings to include TikTok Trivia, TikTok can reduce its reliance on its core features and diversify its offerings.

Last week, Kai Cenat became the first African-American streamer to reach 200,000 subscribers on Twitch, a major milestone in his meteoric rise to the top of the platform. Cenat’s success is largely attributed to his founding of the Any Means Possible (AMP) group, which has over 2.7 million YouTube subscribers and is made up of young men of color.
Cenat’s subscriber count places him third all-time, behind only Ludwig and Ninja, but he has his sights set on the number one spot. He is a force to be reckoned with on the platform, and his success is due in part to his dedication to the community and his ability to entertain. In fact, he was recently named Streamer of the Year at the 2022 YouTube Streamy Awards.
As Cenat continues his subathon through March 4th, it will be exciting to see how high his subscriber count can climb. He has proven that with dedication, hard work, and a commitment to his community, anything is possible.
💡 A subathon is a type of livestream where each time a viewer subscribes, more time is added to a descending timer, and the stream ends when the timer reaches zero.
